One word of peace

Well well well, once again you come crawling back to me for another sweet hit of all this… huh!!!

I must admit, I’m not too surprised really, no one can resist good advice; and I’ll be straight up, I’ve got plenty of it. How do I have such a bounty to share with you? Easy, I just banged my head against the walls of life until I got some answers. Now let me impart you with another bit of the good stuff.

You know what sucks? Doing things; even more so if it is something you don’t want to do, ugh what a bore. Am I right? No doubt I am, but that doesn’t solve the main root cause issue, you still might need to do that thing. So, what are we going to do about it? Well, if you’ve read a couple of these weekly posts, you might already have an idea.

Yep that’s right, we’re going to shift our perspective, holy shit man, who would have thought the disease was in our minds the whole time. Woah trippy man.

Okay, time to get serious alright because life isn’t a game. What you need to understand is the wording that you use has an incredible impact on all sorts of things; not just with howson feel but also when it comes to your performance. The solution to not wanting to do things that you have to is…

Simple, we just change one word. Instead of saying “I have to”, replace it with “I get to”. Shit now that I write that, I feel like we have covered this before. Fuck it, the show goes on. And you know what, a good reminder is just that, a good reminder. So be thankful for the brain bashing you’re getting right now.

Let’s try this then, next time, I don’t know… Your kids start school early in the morning, say “I get to drop my kids to school”. Or doing the washing up of dirty clothes or dishes, “I get to wash and clean the house”. You get the picture.

Now I am going to stop and prefix this technique with some tempering words. This isn’t going to make you love what you are doing, getting up early to take the kids to school or clean up the house might still not be fun. But, your attitude towards the task will be much more accepting of what needs to be done, which in turn means that the activity doesn’t have a long-lasting effect on your psyche, which could dampen your day.

Look but life is just one big game so, have fun with this one alright.

Till next week, we have fun around here don’t we?

And yes, I did say life wasn’t a game and then said that it was at the end… you like that? That’s what us writers call an untrustworthy narrator, but you would already know about that right
